ACAMIS Community
Georgia’s Head of School traveled to the Keystone Academy in Beijing for the ACAMIS School Leadership Conference where Georgia School was welcomed by the ACAMIS Board of Directors into the organization. Keynote speakers at the conference were, Stedman Graham, American author and husband of Oprah Winfrey, and Rosalind Wiseman, American parenting educator and best-selling author of adolescent psychology books. The theme of the conference was, “Values Added: Leadership in a time of crisis”. Across two days, Heads of Schools from across China gathered to attend theme focused workshops and planning meetings designed to enhance academic performance, character development of students and school culture. As Mr. Cavon mentions, “The ACAMIS Leadership conference is an invaluable opportunity to connect with colleagues, old and new, toward our shared aim of continuous self-improvement and student-centered education. We are proud to be inducted into ACAMIS and I am certain that membership will expand the range of learning opportunities for our students and our staff.”
Among the many friends and colleagues that Mr. Cavon had an opportunity to spend time with were Dr. Marta Medved Drajnovic, Head of School, Western Academy of Beijing (WAB) and Mr. Kevin Baker, Head of School, American International School of Guangzhou (AISG) and WASC Commissioner.
Due to Beijing health regulations, attendance at the ACAMIS Leadership Conference was limited to 300 participants. GSN Teachers will attend ACAMIS Conferences in Shanghai in the upcoming months and GSN’s Athletic Coordinator, Coach Brandon Flemming, is in dialoge with ACAMIS on upcoming sports tournaments. GSN will also participate in ACAMIS ACE (Academic and Cultural Enrichment) events and competitions which include the areas of STEM and the arts and include activities such as film festivals, art competitions, science fairs and robotics competitions.
Georgia School Ningbo looks forward to being an active member of the ACAMIS community for years to come!
