GSN AP Program
Georgia School is proud to be Ningbo’s premier college preparatory school, able to offer students a wide range of Advanced Placement (AP) courses and onsite AP and SAT testing. Advanced Placement or AP is a research based academic program developed by the College Board that offers students the ability to take college-level classes while still in high school. After a student’s successful completion of an AP course, an AP Exam is taken. Students scoring above designated benchmarks are awarded university course credit, enabling the student to complete up to one year of university coursework, while attending high school at Georgia School Ningbo. Additionally, students that complete 5 select AP courses, during their studies at GSN, are eligible to receive College Board’s AP International Diploma, in addition to the Georgia School Ningbo Diploma. When taking AP classes, students complete AP exams in May of each school year. AP exams cover all course content described within an AP course syllabus. AP exams are scored between 1 and 5, with anything 3 or higher considered a passing score. All AP classes are college level courses designed to help students prepare for the AP exams. Taking an AP course and passing the test is a sign that a student is capable of handling college-level work, which strengthens a student’s college applications. A selection of AP classes on a transcript show strong academic training, and it are a great way for students to distinguish themselves among applicants. AP exam scores are accepted by a multitude of colleges and universities in the US, Canada and Europe and Oceania.
