National Honor Society
The National Honor Society (NHS) is an American organization designed for high achieving high school students in the USA and at select international schools around the world. NHS membership criteria is based on four pillars: academic achievement, leadership, service, and character. Students within the Georgia School chapter of NHS actively reflect the NHS criteria which are aligned with Georgia School’s academic standards within the school’s Honors Program.
This year, on April 28th, the NHS is celebrating 100 Years of their International Induction Ceremony! This special anniversary event brings more than a million students from around the world together to celebrate the aims and achievements of the National Honor Society across the past 100 years.

High schoolers who join the NHS are committed to setting positive examples for their peers and developing into the leaders of tomorrow. It is also an opportunity for students to stand out within the competitive pool of college applicants, since participation in the Honors Program and NHS adds distinguishing characteristics to a student’s profile, which are highly valued by top universities.
GSN Head of School, Mr. Cavon Ahangarzadeh, states that, “The purpose of the National Honor Society is to elevate students’ academic, leadership, and community service engagement. NHS membership benefits students, communities, and universities. Through NHS participation universities have an additional, external, measure of a students’ academic and service commitment. NHS shares Georgia School’s high expectations of students in terms of both academics and in character.”
