Testing Center of AMC
Georgia School Ningbo is pleased to announce that in October 2020,Georgia School was awarded official testing center status for the, world renowned, American Mathematics Competitions (AMC8 / AMC10 / AMC12 / AIME). Georgia students are now able to participate in the AMC competition on campus at Georgia school.
The American Mathematics Competition is sponsored by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA). It was founded in 1950 by the New York City MAA. At present, more than 300,000 students from 6,000 schools participate in the competition every year. It is one of the most influential youth mathematics competitions in the world.
The American Mathematics Competition includes AMC8, AMC10, AMC 12, AMIE and USAMO - United States of America Math Olympiad, and the USJMO - United States of America Junior Math Olympiad. AMC8 is held in November every year, mainly for junior high school students and senior primary school students from Grade 8 and below; AMC10 and AMC 12 is held in February every year, mainly for senior high school students of Grade 10 and 12 years; AMIE and USAMO / USAJMO are designed for outstanding high scoring AMC students qualifying and the International Mathematics Olympiad.
Since 1950, AMC has evolved to attract talented students internationally and has contributed to the academic portfolios of students as they apply for undergraduate degrees in mathematics and related fields. Since AMC is internationally recognized, participation in AMC by international students across the world has become an important way for students to increase their competitive experience, improving their university prospects.
AMC’s main test committee is fully responsible for the research and development of test questions, propositions and standardized scoring. The committee consists of experts from the Department of Mathematics at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, which is famous for its mathematics program, and by experts from other top universities in the United States including MIT, Harvard, and Princeton.
