GSN’s Literature Fair
This year, the Literature Fair at Georgia School was packed with adventure, mystery, history, and so much more! As a schoolwide event, students from Pre-K3 through Grade 12 were involved in different activities related to a variety of books and authors. Grade 6 teacher, Ms. Nida Ahangarzadeh, shared “At GSN, we want to celebrate all the core subjects! Literature Fair celebrates one of the fun and enjoyable parts of Language Arts: Reading!”
Secondary School Coordinator, Mrs. Darcie Flansburg, explains that “The Literature Fair is a way for students to explore the power of language and read books that interest them. They spend weeks preparing their presentation posters which share everything from original summaries to creative writing that tells the story of a different character's perspective to writing their own epilogues and argumentative analysis of significant quotes. This year we featured a Book Tasting in which students were able to "taste" the books that will be referenced in GSN’s annual “Battle of Books”.
The Book Tasting section of the Literature Fair was displayed as a creative set up in GSN’s library, where children could walk through, read a small part of some books, and afterwards complete a task sheet about what they read. This is in preparation for the Battle of the Books which will happen in April with other international schools in Ningbo! Mrs. Flansburg continued, “Hopefully this will generate a natural interest in the books for the event and students will want to participate.”
