Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!
During Mid-Autumn Festival the moon is expected to be at its brightest and reach its fullest size! In keeping with this important Chinese Traditional holiday, with origins dating back over 3000 years, GSN students exhibited their brightness and the fullness of their learning, by participating in a Mid-Autumn Festival Chinese riddle competition!
GSN’s Mandarin Department and the GSN Library prepared this fun and educational riddle activity and shared Chinese candy, cookies, and golden tangerines for participants that were able to solve the riddles. When asked what inspired this engaging activity, Ms. Ivey Zhang, Mandarin teacher, explained that “The Mid-Autumn Festival is a very important traditional festival in China. Georgia is an inclusive international school and we hope that all students can feel the festive atmosphere and understand more about Chinese culture!” Ms. Sukey Zhou, GSN Librarian, shared that “it is wonderful to see GSN students learning about the origins of Mid-Autumn festival, guessing riddles and winning prizes! I am also very glad to see everyone experiencing the charm of this traditional Chinese festival!” It was a perfect end to the week and a great start of the holiday!
