Chinese New Year 2022
Starting off the day with an intriguing Chinese New Year Show, directed by Performing Arts teacher Ms. Larissa Zanin and Music teacher Ms. Samantha Zhang, Primary students demonstrated their skills through multiple Chinese songs and dances.
The Mandarin Department and Grade 8 students, who helped coordinate the show, also prepared a series of interactive games, handing out themed prizes to those who took a chance to participate. Students competed in a shaking ball, jump sack, and jump rope challenge - it was a show to remember! Swords, fans, and Beijing opera face masks were some of the accessories used by students during their performances, adding a very unique and creative touch to the show. High School students that lead a K-Pop After School Activity also joined on stage, giving emphasis to the Chinese traditional custom of handing out ‘hong baos’ (red envelopes) during this festive season! The day carried on with GSN’s Chinese New Year Fair, a celebration prepared by secondary students which gives children a chance to “travel” to different cities around China and learn about traditional cuisine, games, and cultural history.
In honor of the upcoming Chinese New Year, a select group of students who participated in an art challenge were awarded certificates from The Association of China and Mongolia International Schools (ACAMIS). Congratulations to GSN Lions that received a Certificate for Participation from ACAMIS for their outstanding work this year!
