Dragon Boat Festival
The Mandarin department of Georgia School celebrated the Dragon Boat Festival. Students participated in the fun games and learned the origin and customs of the Dragon Boat Festival.
As the students gathered inside, they were organized in different groups. Each group stood in a paper dragon boat and they had to move forward walking on the shiatsu sheet, to the other end of the room. Students had a blast with this healthy competition! The second game is "Phrase Contest". After learning the history and customs of the Dragon Boat Festival, students strapped with key words. The Chinese teacher described a word, and the students found the answer by grabbing the paper pieces on others. Learning can be also fun if we change the regular class into a fun activity!Students enjoyed a ring toss game. Inside some goodie bags were ‘reduce homework’ passes, candy, and others. Everyone took multiple turns, but only a few lucky contestants will be excused from their homework the rest of the semester!
GSN Mandarin classes celebrated the Dragon Boat Festival with cultural and enjoyable activities. With excitement and happiness from students, it concluded. The festival serves not just as a national holiday, but also a platform to demonstrate Chinese tradition and cultural heritage; moreover, it brings harmony to the Georgia family.
