Empowered Women, Empower Women
Georgia School fosters positive mindsets for both girls and boys, striving to create a safe and healthy school environment for children to thrive in. This week, Secondary School girls from grades 7 through 12 got together for a GRL PWR (girl power) Workshop, where they participated in activities individually and with their peers.
As GRL PWR facilitator and Secondary School Coordinator, Mrs. Darcie Flansburg affirms, “At GSN we believe that empowered women, empower women. Girls need to know their worth and that being an empowered woman means empowering other women. Girls should celebrate each other’s successes and know that their success does not take away from the success of others. It is important that teachers act as role models and empower each other as well as showing students their worth and helping them build upon their strengths.”
GSN’s first GRL PWR Workshop was based on positive psychology principles, which helps girls know themselves better, understand the power they have over their own lives, and have increased social awareness. Empowering women is essential to the health and social development of students, families, communities, and countries. When young women are living safe, fulfilled, and productive lives, they can reach their full potential in their academic and personal life.
