GSN Visual Art Program
Georgia School’s Visual Art Program has set up another wonderful exhibition, uniquely created by talented students that have been learning how to express and communicate their feelings through art. Every grade level follows a different brief in which they learn about different skills, adding to their knowledge of visual art, drawing, and composing ideas. In class, students learn to create, understand and manipulate images, reaching elaborate ways to present their ideas that translate into beautiful projects.
To wrap up the academic year, the highlight of this semester is the High School Visual Art Program, which offers students a broad perspective of the fine arts and deepens their understanding of the opportunities for art-related careers through exposure to art history, contemporary artists and artwork. Lessons consist of lectures, demonstrations, slide presentations, studio activities, assigned research and group critiques. Students will explore a variety of artists, art processes and materials such as drawing, painting, printmaking, two & three-dimensional design, and digital art. On completion of the course students will develop and create a portfolio of their accumulated artwork.
GSN’s Art teacher, Ms. Samantha Clegg, says that “As an art educator, I want my students to learn and appreciate the arts and its history. Exploring the contribution of diverse artists and the importance of the world and our communities open our student's beliefs and encourages students to be creative and imaginative communicators. Through a community of inquiry, students learn to investigate, question, and experiment. In my teaching, I want to invite risk-taking in creating, thinking and exploration. High School students will develop the technical skills and the ability to organize the visual elements necessary to communicate concepts and experiences across various media.”
