Welcome Back
Energized by the Spring Festival celebrations behind us, teachers, students, and staff returned to campus for semester 2! Students were greeted with smiles and hugs as they were carefully guided through the school’s health and safety procedures back onto campus.
Throughout the morning students expressed excitement to see their teachers and classmates again and rushed into classrooms calling out their names! Many Pre-K students brought in new toys to share for show-and-tell. A few nervous looks were spotted, as GSN welcomed several new Early Years students for the term. These quickly transformed into smiles as the new students felt the warmth of their new teachers and classmates.
In the classrooms, students were ready to dive into new content with their classmates, preparing for upcoming projects. Grade 2 students began the day with a science experiment and Grade 2 Teacher Ms. Amy Barr explained, “…they are exploring how physical changes occur and if those changes affect the mass of an object.” Grade 7 student, Marie Qian, shared that she, “feels very excited and happy to be back at school.” Her classmate, Cici Chen, stated her goal for this semester is to, “get A’s in all my courses!” Another student from Grade 4, Suri, said that one of the things she wants to do this semester is to master the ability, “to turn on the skatepark pump track and be able go through it more gracefully.” GSN Lions returned refreshed and prepared to take on new challenges!
AP students and teachers hit the ground running Monday in preparation for upcoming exams. High School Language Arts Teacher Mrs. Darcie Flansburg said, "we have two months remaining to prepare students for AP exams in May. The second semester is always a whirlwind of lessons, exams, college preparations, attention to GPAs, and end of year activities for high school students."
As GSN’s Head of School, Mr. Cavon Ahangarzadeh, mentioned, “we look forward to an exciting second semester of the 2020/2021 school year, full of learning, new activities and school events. We have a lot in store for this semester. Welcome back!”
