Child Protection: GSN's Highest Priority
Georgia School follows the guidelines established by the International Taskforce on Child Protection (ITFCP). School policies and practices are aligned with ITFCP guidelines and standards as outlined by the Council of International Schools (CIS):
https://www.cois.org/about-cis/child-protection/international-taskforce-on-child-protection/safeguarding-standards, and as described within the ITFCP Essential Questions and Expectations, also adopted by WASC, the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, Georgia School’s accrediting body.
In addition to comprehensive child protection policies and practices, all teachers and staff at Georgia School are required to obtain certification through ECIS (the Educational Collaborative for International Schools), in Child Protection and Safety. Administrators at GSN are required to obtain ECIS Level 2 Leadership Certification.

GSN ensures that all children in their care are afforded a safe and secure environment in which to grow and develop. Educators have a professional and ethical obligation to identify children who are in need of help and protection and to take steps to ensure that the child and family avail themselves of the services needed to remedy any situation that constitutes child abuse or neglect. GSN endorses the Convention on the Rights of the Child, of which the host country, China, is a signatory and seeks to be a safe haven for students who may be experiencing abuse or neglect in any aspect of their lives.
