Sept 2020 SAT
On Saturday, Sept 26th, GSN students participated in the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) on campus, in preparation for upcoming college applications. This is the first of multiple SAT offerings on campus at Georgia School Ningbo for the 2020/2021 academic year.
Georgia School, a WASC accredited American international school, is also an authorized SAT testing center, able to offer SAT, PSAT and AP examinations on campus to enrolled students.
The SAT is a College Board standardized test used to measure a high school student’s preparedness for college, and also to provide colleges with a common data point that can be used to compare applicants. A students’ SAT score is taken highly into consideration when applying to universities in the United States and is also an influential factor for scholarship and grant applications.
GSN aims to guide students towards a successful university admission path. This process begins early in Middle School as students begin to consider their talents and interests in preparation for High School. High School Language Arts Teacher and SAT Coordinator Mrs. Darcie Flansburg explained that, “students have been preparing for the SAT in every Math and English class that they take at GSN. By the time they take the SAT in grades 11 and 12, they have taken the PSAT four times and have used the results to target areas of need. Their PSAT results in College Board are connected to Kahn Academy where they are able to practice specific skills prior to taking the SAT. Grade 12 students are also in a daily College Prep class where they practice for the SAT and prepare college application materials and essays. At Saturday’s SAT, the students were ready and eager to complete the test that they have been preparing for, for years.”
