Happy Chinese New Year
Students were encouraged to dress in traditional Chinese clothing, sharing pride and appreciation for Chinese culture and history. Early Years and Kindergarten students took the spotlight while performing GSN’s Chinese New Year Winter Show! The little ones showcased various songs and dances on stage, celebrating the season and highlighting the characteristics of the year of the Ox. The show was directed by GSN’s Performing Arts and Music teachers, with Grade 8 students responsible for all sound and music, lighting, stage preparations, displays, and talent transitions! The show was broadcast live for parents and friends to watch from around the world.
After the show, Secondary students were responsible for organizing presentations and activities for the Primary students, sharing interesting facts and traditional foods from different cities in China. All the students had the chance immerse themselves in Chinese culture, learning about each region’s history and unique characteristics. From PreK all the way through Grade 12, everyone was involved in learning about the cultures and histories of various provinces which include playing regional games and sampling delicious regional foods together!
GSN’s Head of School, Mr. Cavon Ahangarzadeh, shared during the live broadcast: “The year of the Ox reminds us to be strong, persistent, honest and true and to confront challenges with courage and vigor.
