After School Activities Program
Student learning at Georgia School goes well beyond the classroom and is an integrated part of school life taking place in the hallways, the cafeteria, on the sports fields, and of course within the school’s After-School Activities (ASAs) program. ASAs involve all Georgia students from PK-Grade 12, from 3:30-4:30 PM, four days a week. With a wide range of ASAs for students to choose from, children and teenagers are given the chance to explore their talents and discover new interests and possibilities!
ASAs play a vital role in child development, offering children an opportunity to try something new within a safe and fun environment. When children personally identify, within themselves, an area of academic or creative potential, their self-esteem and independence arestrengthened. These activities also help children and teenagers enhance their social skills since students are afforded the opportunity to attend ASAs with older and younger students sharing similar interests.
Extracurricular ASAs are particularly important for high school students as they begin to apply to competitive universities around the world. Top universities expect applicants to identify and pursue personal areas of interest and to take on leadership roles within specific areas. For GSN’s students this can translate to students chairing an ASA club, participation in Student Council or active participation within an existing ASA or club. As Georgia’s Head of School explains, “…we encourage our high school students to start student led clubs and to build momentum around them. The ability to identify, pursue, and lead an passion project is one of the hallmarks of a future leader. We are here to help students launch their passion projects and to develop their leadership skills.”
All children deserve high-quality learning opportunities inside and outside of the classroom. GSN’s extracurricular After School Activities program aims to ignite student interests that will last a lifetime!
