GSN Model United Nations
Imagine that you are a world leader, responsible for solving some of the world's greatest challenges...
What is MUN?
Model United Nations (MUN) is a simulation of the United Nations General Assembly and United Nations Security Council, kindling students' creativity, imagination and reasoning.
MUN at GSN
At GSN, Model United Nations (MUN) is an elective course in which students have the opportunity to represent a country that is a member of the United Nations. By serving as MUN delegates, or country representatives, students explore and discuss major geopolitical matters impacting individuals, groups and nations around the world. MUN is a fascinating and practical way for students to research current global challenges and investigate solutions. Though MUN, students develop and refine critical thinking, public speaking and debate skills towards the development of MUN resolutions. As a complement to the classroom, MUN enables students to integrate multiple areas of learning: sciences, statistics, history and language, towards the creation of actionable ideas, designed to benefit humanity.
MUN Benefits
Students active in GSN’s Model United Nations program have the chance to become acquainted with diplomacy, international law and contemporary world issues. By representing a country and conducting research on its culture, history and government, the MUN student is able to understand how countries problem solve through the use of consultative dialogue and diplomacy. Further, MUN nurtures leadership, teamwork and public speaking skills, all of which are vital components of the GSN university preparatory process.
