GSN’s 2020 Walkathon
Each year GSN sponsors a fundraiser to support families and children in China. Usually held in springtime, GSN’s 2020 Walkathon had to be postponed to the end of November, but was a success nonetheless!
This is the 6th fundraiser since the founding of Georgia School. All collected funds will be donated to The China Charity Federation, specifically designated to pay for cleft palate surgeries for children.

On Wednesday, Dec. 2, a cold morning was quickly warmed up through simple stretches, preparing all the participants for an hour of exercise. Not long after, push bikes, skateboards, and scooters were zooming around the school campus in between runners of all ages! GSN designated a specific track to be followed and volunteer teachers stood at every corner to make sure no one lost their way. As upbeat music echoed through the internal streets of GSN, students and teachers gave their best lap after lap, increasing the amount of rubber bands on their wrists and devoting themselves to a greater cause.
GSN’s Head of School, Mr. Cavon Ahangarzadeh, said “The annual GSN walkathon fundraiser for charity is an opportunity for our students to put Georgia School spirit into action. Georgia School Lions are expected to be Involved Global Citizens, service oriented and ever concerned for the well-being and safety of our local community and our global family. For six years now, GSN has raised funds to be of assistance to families and children in China and around the world. We are proud to put our funds into action through the China Charity Federation (CCF). At GSN we believe that the act of giving and being of service to others increases students’ capacity for compassion, empathy and understanding. The ongoing development of these traits is essential for our Lions, as the future leaders of a better world.” Mr. Cavon also joined the 2020 Walkathon on his skateboard, alongside other students.
The Walkathon was an extremely fun and exciting morning for all those involved, but above all, it was a great chance for the GSN community to be active together, overcoming limits and achieving new goals!
